More New Flights in Mexico
In addition to new flights from Mexico’s AIFA airport, the Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier VivaAerobus has also announced an increase in flights from Mexico City’s Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU). For example, Viva will add four new routes and extra capacity to numerous vacation destinations over the next few months. Recently, they have already added eleven routes from the new Mexico City Airport (AIFA) and will soon be operating more than 50 flights a week. These new flights really add strength to the connectivity of the Metropolitan Zone of Mexico City which allows more passengers to be able to fly, in new aircraft, with direct flights, and at the best prices with various schedule options to increase their total travel experience.
Viva’s New Routes Announced
Just recently, VivaAerobus announced an additional four new domestic routes to service NLU airport. For example, Hermosillo (HMO), Ixtapa Zihuatanejo (ZIH), Mazatlán (MZT), and Puerto Vallarta (PVR) will also have new flights in and out of Mexico City. In addition, in May 2023, VivaAerobus scheduled 38 weekly departures from the Felipe Ángeles Airport to service six domestic destinations including Acapulco, Cancun, Monterrey, Oaxaca, Puerto Escondido, and Tijuana, as well as one international route to Havana, Cuba. The routes to Hermosillo, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, and Mazatlán will begin on July 2, and the route to Puerto Vallarta will commence on July 14. The VivaAerobus route to Puerto Vallarta will offer daily services, and the service to Hermosillo will be available four times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Lastly, flights to Ixtapa Zihuatanejo and Mazatlán will be available three days a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
Adding Capacity on Additional Routes
In addition to adding new flights, VivaAerobus has also announced plans to increase capacity to other routes. For example, the airline plans to increase the number of flights to Puerto Escondido (PXM), Oaxaca (OAX), Acapulco (ACA), Cancun (CUN), and Tijuana (TIJ). Starting on July 14, VivaAerobus will start to offer three daily departures to Cancun from Mexico City. In addition, Tijuana will have two daily flights as well. Next, Puerto Escondido will also have daily flights, and Oaxaca and Acapulco will receive four weekly services on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to and from Mexico City. With the addition of these new routes and added capacity, VivaAerobus will offer a total of 74 weekly flights from NLU airport making VivaAerobus the second-largest airline in the country with flights from the airport behind Aeromexico.
As you can see, VivaAerobus is making huge advances in securing their pace as one of the country’s most important airlines. Right now, the Felipe Ángeles International Airport has 201 weekly scheduled passenger departures operated by six airlines including Aeromexico, VivaAerobus, and Volaris, Arajet, Conviasa, and Copa Airlines. The airport has direct connectivity to 19 destinations, including five international locations in Caracas, Havana, Houston, Panama City, and Santo Domingo.
